Children's Dentistry

At Kerr Family Dental we believe caring for our teeth starts before we even get our baby teeth. Creating a lifetime of healthy teeth and cavity free check-ups is our main goal for all of the kiddos. We try and make it as convenient as possible to schedule the whole family at one time whenever possible. Baby teeth are an important part of a child's development.

Dr. Kerr can relate to the challenges of caring for children's teeth because he has young kids of his own and has to brush and floss their teeth every night. Dr. Kerr also worked at a Community Health Center in Missouri for over three years where he primarily worked on pediatric patients. We love seeing kids here at Kerr Family Dental because they make our job fun.

Every child is unique and may need a different approach when it comes to their dental health. Dr. Kerr understands that and tries to make a personal connection with each child to help them feel comfortable while in the dental chair. The early years of our lives is when we develop the fastest and with regular childhood dental visits we can hopefully catch any potential problems and fix them as soon as possible. This is why Dr. Kerr follows the recommendation of the American Dental Association that kids should be seen within six months of the first tooth erupting or by the child's first birthday, whichever occurs first.

Fun Dental Visits

We know that many adults have a fear of the dentist and a lot of times that started because of a bad experience as a child. We try to make each visit fun and comfortable to stop the fear cycle and allow all kids to grow up without fearing a trip to the dentist. We try and use terms to fit the age and understanding of each child. Dr. Kerr uses kid-friendly terms for the procedures and instruments used and will explain things before he does them. We believe it is better to prevent cavities than get cavities and that is why we recommend regular cleanings, fluoride varnish treatments, and sealants.

Ongoing Dentistry for Kids

As your child grows and their diet becomes more varied, they are more susceptible to dental decay. We will help keep your child's gums and teeth healthy as they grow and communicate with you, the parent, on ways to keep your little one's smile looking bright and feeling comfortable.

  • Dental cleanings
  • Bitewing x-rays
